Shanbally House & GardensShanbally House & Gardens is situated on 200 acres.  We are located just outside Toomevara Co. Tipperary.  As an introduction to Shanbally House & Gardens, it is important to understand our ethos which is celebrating “health through nature”.  A visit to Shanbally is certainly a sensory experience!

Opening in Autumn 2020, visitors will have the opportunity to walk through our landscaped herbal gardens.  We invite you to take in the scent and array of colours at various times of the year.  Each visit will give you a different herbal experience.  One of the most charming features is our Walled Garden. It hosts an eclectic array of both medicinal and culinary herbs, fruit trees, flowers and organic vegetables.

This is a must!! We welcome you to walk through these elegant rooms. They have been carefully restored and furnished in keeping with the Georgian period.  Each room has been tastefully decorated. In addition to this, they display artefacts relevant to herbal medicine, with storyboards explaining Shanbally’s link to herbal medicine.  Shanbally also has a link to Napoleon!! Curious? Therefore, you have to come visit us to find out more!! The basement of Shanbally house, has more of an Apothecary feel. Visitor’s will get the opportunity to see, smell and learn about the herbs we grow on our organic farm.  Explore the ‘Sammon Devlin Room’, that hosts a variety of medicine cabinets displaying cures, medicines and medical documents.

Education Space

Located in the adjoining courtyard is our Education space.  We can accommodate up to 100 people between our 5 meetings rooms.  Also located here is our main reception office, our retail shop and a dedicated catering venue. Furthermore, the Farmacy Cafe serves a plant based menu to complement each event using fresh produce from our organic farm.   Our calendar of events include a variety of interactive workshops, seminars and conferences.  We cater for not only Herbalists but Practitioners in general.  However, we also have plenty to offer the general public that have an interest in health related topics.  Visit our education page to view the calendar of  upcoming events.  Also at Shanbally, it is also possible to hire these rooms for corporate events, receptions and meetings.  Most importantly, we can work with you to tailor an event to meet your specifications.

The Herbyard

The next courtyard is home to the Therapy Rooms . Quite simply, this is a multidisciplinary clinic where clients can have private consultations with experienced Practitioners.  This includes but not limited to herbalists, homeopaths, nutritionists, massage therapists and reflexologists.  Over the next few months, we will be updating the Herbyard page with details of our Practitioners.  Once we are up and running, you will be able to book your consultation online.  Moving on from here, on the other side of this courtyard, is the Shanbally barn.   It is here where we invite you to relax and unwind.  Clients can avail of our infrared saunas, therapy pool and our signature herbal baths.  We are currently in construction phase, more information to follow in coming months.

Shanbally Farm

In 2019, Shanbally Farm received organic status. Since then,we are members of the Irish Organic AssociationShanbally Farm, currently grows over 120 different types of herbs and vegetables.  These are harvested for use in the Shanbally Herb Dispensary.  However, visitors to Shanbally will also have the opportunity to purchase these herbal plants and organic grown vegetables in our retail area.  Throughout the year, Shanbally Farm hosts volunteer days and practical continuous professional days for practitioners.  Please see the Shanbally Farm page for more details.

Shanbally Herb Dispensary

Lastly, located 1 mile from Shanbally House & Gardens, is the Herb Dispensary.  It is here where the herbs harvested from the farm are processed.  As a result of processing, our powders, dried herbs and tinctures are made.  These are then sold online to Herbalists both in Ireland and internationally.
